A Weekend For Learning

USA Today staff photographer and SportsShooter founder Robert Hanashiro (R) runs through the menu of a brand-spanking-new Nikon D3 for SS member John Birk (L) at the 2008 SportsShooter Boot camp in Irvine, California 9/5/08
I had a great time showing off small lighting techniques to 32 photographers at the 2nd Annual SportsShooter Boot Camp this past weekend, along with Robert Beck (Sports Illustrated), Matt Brown (Southern California freelancer), Lucas Gilman (outdoor & sports photographer), Michael Goulding (Orange County Register), Myung J. Chun (Los Angeles Times) and Robert Hanashiro (USA TODAY) . There's such a great buzz of energy flowing when a group of like-minded people get together! Many came from around the country to learn (and even a couple from outside the U.S.).
To set the stage, I set up a 3 light setup using 2 Nikon SB900s and 1 SB800, then let 4 different groups of 8 participants have their way to get their own unique shots.
Photographer Octavian Cantilli came all the way from Florida, and shows off some of his work from the weekend, along some descriptive words on his SportsShooter member page. See you all next year!
