Speed Grid Attachment
11 commentsHonlPhoto Speed Grids are easy to attach to your flash.
When attaching the required Speed Strap to your flash, wrap it about 1/2" beyond the flash lens to allow adequate air space between the grid and lens (as shown here on a Nikon SB800):
Then, for a snug fit:
1.) With the HonlPhoto Speed Strap in place, lay grid on a flat surface and rest strobe on honeycomb.
2.) Create a slight tension on velcro straps by pressing inward on each side of strobe (as detailed in Fig. 3).
3.) This shows the proper positioning of the velcro strap to assure a firm placement on your strobe. Having tension on this part of the velcro will assure a firm fit.
4.) Do not attach velcro as shown here, or Speed Grid will not hug your strobe properly.

I suppose the air space between the grid and the lens is for cooling? Or is that because the grid may melt?

Hey David - I ordered these via Adorama and was really looking forward to using them, but Adorama's ordering department shipped it via a new shipping system where the package first travels by UPS and then via USPS. I was promised that it would arrive today but the actual delivery date is three days from now. I am very disappointed by Adorama. I really wish you could have chosen to work with B&H Photo Video instead. Sorry for the ranting - your products are first-rate and I love them. Thanks!

does it matter which way the grid is facing?

David, these seem like really useful products. Personally it would be nice to have some examples for each product available... without/with kind of things. Thanks.
